A few weeks ago Governor Kemp introduced Senate Bill 69 which is a strong tort reform package.
With huge support of the Georgia business community, Governor Kemp has made his intentions clear. He aims to address the abuse of our legal system here in Georgia and the serious issue of third-party litigation funding. By introducing this bill, Governor Kemp hopes to protect litigants in vulnerable situations.
The press release is very lengthy, but you can read it here.
From the governor’s press release, “As I said in my State of the State address earlier this month, our legal environment is draining family bank accounts and hurting job creators of all sizes in nearly every industry in our state,” … “After months of listening to our citizens, businesses, and stakeholders across the spectrum, it is clear the status quo is unacceptable, unsustainable, and jeopardizes our state’s prosperity in the years to come.”
